Our final day with Tumaini and Irene

Here we are out on the grass in the courtyard hanging out, having a soda and playing. Irene was climbing on me while Tumaini sat on my lap.

Some of the base kids came to join us as well. The boy with the sunglasses is Mwema.

This is in our apartment - we gave the girls bibles then we all joined hands a prayed.

This sign was on our wall when we entered the first day. The longer we were there the more we realized how true it was. Our hearts will always feel as if Africa is home.

Our little girl Irene sings "Jesus Loves Me"

(Sorry it is sideways - I can't get it to rotate)

This was our second day spending time with Irene. At first she was very quiet and limited with her english but she really began to speak out the more time we spent with her. She even began to translate for us at times. She is such an amazing & brave young girl. Her Mama died of aids, her Grandma is dying and unable to get out of bed for over a year now. She has an Aunt who helps to take care of her but it is very difficult. Irene will be one of the first to move into the Tumaini Childrens Home that CTK is building at the Ywam Base. The day we were leaving she had tears streaming down her cheeks asking when we would return - which lead to me bawling of course. I love her soooooooooooooooooo much! Just listen to her sing this precious song and you will fall in love with her too!
